At last a decent video that actually shows you what to do

Whenever I am having an event, particularly a party for the youngsters, I love to create a banner.  It is fun to stretch out a giant sheet of butcher block paper, and have everybody work on it along with pens, pencils, paints, stencils, and glitter to make a banner which will show everybody where the major event is.  I first got the idea from going to my five year old’s preschool open house, where all of the kids made banners about who they may be.

I didn’t get to watch my child make a banner, but I could tell that he had had tons of fun doing it!  His banner showed are house, his parents and little sister, his best buddy, his dog, and his favourite hobbies.  There he was, curled up in an imaginatively drawn chair, in my lap, sharing a picture book.  It actually touched my heart and made me want to make a banner with him, where we could have an experience bonding and sharing ideas about our life, so on the week before his extremely next birthday, I came back home with some butcher block paper, and we got to work.

Naturally, being concerned in net commerce, banners are way more than the way I bond with my child.  Every time I start a new e-business, I must create a banner for my internet site.  There are a number of different software options for doing this, but really, if you know your way round the PC, and already have web-design software, there’s no need to buy special banner making software.  You can create a banner out of any images, animated or otherwise, and good old Photoshop, mixed with a search engine and a faithful scanner has always worked well enough for me.

It’s silly to trouble to create a banner with animated gifs and flashing colours, as it will just look annoying and grating to someone, and they will likely close it outright.  The best banners have a more subdued, classy appearance to them, and attempt to earn the sympathy of the spectator, rather than clobbering them over the head and trying to require them to buy what your selling.  Before I make a banner, I always think about my target audience and what sort of photographs they are most sure to appreciate.  Then I’ll create a banner that may appeal to them and their tastes.
